When in a relationship, the phrase “I love you” activates a lot of emotions, feelings, and responses. For example, it feels great to be appreciated and loved by another person. That said, the way “I love you” is expressed has evolved over the years. But, even so, it still retains sweetness for the one to whom it is said.
Love is distinct and pure. It is not about how much money we spend to express it. It is about the significance of where it comes from and how beautifully it is shown. You don’t really have to say the words, “I love you.” Instead, let’s consider these eight actions.
1. Treat Your Partner to a Night Out on the Town
Focus on your partner for a night. What does your partner like to do after work or school?
You don’t have to break the bank to make the night a success. Sometimes the simple things have a way of stealing our hearts. Consider checking out magazines like TimeOut. Identify the free outings that are available in your area. Then, plan a night out and spend some night out with your partner.
2. Fix Something for Them
Everyone loves to be with someone who makes his or her life easier and less complicated. If you love that special person, help them fix something. Everyone has a talent or skill set. Find yours and use that to help the one you love.
Maybe you are good at putting together an effective resume, or organizing a closet, or writing that business plan. There is always something you can fix for your loved one. Even simple tasks like taking out the trash will certainly mean a lot to your partner and demonstrate that you love him or her.
3. Cook Something Yummy
You may not really be a good cook, but you can still have a nice meal for that special person. Even if you can’t do it yourself, get the help you need and cook a treat for the one you love. That help could come in the form of a packaged dinner, take out, or even the assistance of another person, to prepare the meal that will demonstrate your love for your partner.
4. Say “Thank You” and Show Appreciation
The partner in your life deserves some appreciation. This can come in the form of the words, “Thank you.” Show appreciation for their presence in your world. Also, when you are with friends, let others know how special your partner is to you. This will go a long way in showing your appreciation.
5. Surprise Your Partner
Learn how to surprise your partner with love notes, jokes, small articles, or cartoons. You can place such loving items in places where they would find them and smile. That may include sticky notes on the side of a mirror or even in their lunch bag or box.
6. Treat Them to a Special Service
You could take your partner to a spa, a salon, or a boutique to buy something. Of course your partner will feel that love when you are able to spoil them with something like a massage at a spa.
Another idea is to pay attention to what your loved one has been requesting. This works really well if your partner has been in your life for quite a few years (i.e. married twenty years). For example, if your partner has been requesting dental implants, maybe this is a time to save up the money and surprise him or her. You will make major points doing that. And, it will bring a special smile to both of you.
7. Take a Small Trip
Take a trip with just the two of you. The trip doesn’t have to be expensive. You can stay in a nearby city and rent an Airbnb or make it a camping trip. This provides the opportunity for each of you to see each other in a different light, opening up the opportunity to grow in appreciation for each other.
8. Write Poetry or Compose a Song
Poetry and music come from a special place in our hearts. You don’t have to be a musician to prove your love with a song. The idea is that you are expressing yourself and that you are doing this for the one you love. You may even want to consider asking a creative friend to help you, but this isn’t necessary, as your partner will appreciate that the creation comes from your heart.
