The Chicago Bureau has quickly become a go-to source for quality writing that investigates the pressing issues facing today’s youth. They need our help.

From The Chicago Bureau INDIEGOGO campaign:
We are an independent, Chicago-centric non-profit organization. We aim to train and mentor young journalists to cover the important issues weighing on today’s youth. We believe we have the ability, through strategic partnerships, to push forward the conversation on youth issues while holding the most powerful institutions accountable. Whether it’s juvenile justice or immigration, health or education, LGBTQ or poverty, this endeavor requires the voices of people from all walks of life. If you feel strongly about our mission, about innovative watchdog journalism and about the lives of young people in this country, please consider donating.
What We Need
We are in need of $10,000 in generous support to continue running the program in the short term while we explore many different ways of becoming self-sustaining, through advertising, events, etc., so that we’re not always knocking on the doors of generous people like you or foundations.
Ferkenhoff, the founder, will take no pay from the gifts. All funds will be directed to the interns and programming efforts in underserved communities. We prioritize paying interns because part of our mission is to encourage young journalists to work hard and earn their way. In an industry increasingly seeing unpaid internships, we hope to convince aspiring journalists that their hard work and time is worth compensation.

Here’s where they stand. Please try to contribute as you can!
