I am passionate about engaging with the #Metoo movement in a way that includes and supports men, rather than blames or attacks you.
Many men have come to me recently feeling scared about engaging with women these days — worried that what they say or do could get them in trouble.
How do you continue to interact with women without fear driving your conversations?
How do you relate to women without needing to prove yourself or make up for things other men have done?
On this week’s Man Alive podcast I had a conversation with a brilliant man, one of the world’s leading experts on men and masculinities, Michael Kimmel.
Among his many books are Manhood in America, Angry White Men, The Politics of Manhood, The Gendered Society and the bestseller Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men. Michael also founded the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities in 2013.
In this conversation we covered:
- How to stop trying to be a “real man” and be the good man you likely already are
- The benefits that come to men who share household responsibilities
- Shifting from adversarial to win-win relationships so men and women get more of their desires and needs met
- The importance of moving forward in a way that men’s vulnerability is not used against them
- The generational change we are in the midst of Moving beyond the Don Draper era (without blame or attack)
Even men at the top of their game find themselves wanting more from life. Man Alive is the resource for men who want more meaning, a bigger impact, unshakable confidence, a hotter sex life, more money, deeper love, solid friendships or a powerful legacy.
