Wilkine Brutus cuts through some of the ignorance that surfaces during African American History month.
No White History Month, Morgan Freeman?
Scottish American History Month is in April.

Italian American History Month is also in October.

Native American History month is in November.
Yep…it’s February! The month where we, Americans, evaluate the relevancy of a Black History Month and reevaluate the love or unrequited love of couples and single people on Valentine’s Day. It’s such a lovely, awkward month.
Let’s tackle the subject at hand.
The uproar surrounding the existence of a “Black”(African-American) history month is hilariously nonsensical. There are several cultural heritage months throughout the American calender. Irish-American history month, for example, is celebrated in March. The dinner table aka Twitter will be filled with uninformed people questioning the relevancy of Black History Month without researching their own inquiry.
The answer to their inquiry: why not! There are other cultural heritage months throughout the calender. Apparently, sharing racial/ethnic love is as painful of an emotion as a single person on Valentine’s Day.
The video below explains the semantic reasons behind the uproar and the non-existence of a “White” History month.
Europeans are celebrated throughout the year by their ethnic and cultural backgrounds (Irish, German, Polish etc) and public high school text spend a considerable amount of time teaching European significance while other racial/ethnic groups are relegated to footnotes. That’s a past and present problem!
It’s also difficult to separate the ethnic origins of most African-Americans because of the Black diaspora. The African continent is simply too large. The video also features insight in the Morgan Freeman response.
Check out the video below for a more comprehensive, quirky insight into the argument. Share the video on twitter with the hashtag, #whynowhitehistorymonth.

D…funny!
Good point.
However, I’m of mostly English descent, so the closest I get is a holiday devoted to how the English got their asses handed to them by the colonists. But that’s cool.
