How seriously do you
take your hair?
Got my hair cut last night. It had been four months since my last cut and eight months had passed before that. My record in the past five years for going without a cut is 16 months.
So, it would seem that I’m not very concerned about my hair.
YET, when I do pay attention to it, I inevitably spoil it. Instead of running to the closest Supercuts, I make the effort to go to nice, expensive salons and I’m more than willing to order the products I like from a small boutique company in New Jersey rather than buy the usual brands at the drug store.
It’s a weird mixture of vanity and laziness. I like it when my hair looks nice, but I’m also capable of procrastinating for many months before finally making a hair appointment.
This time–as an experiment–I booked my next appointment for two months from now while I was there. Maybe this is what I have to do to look fairly well-groomed most of the time.
How about you? How long do you go between cuts and do you do anything special to make your hair feel nice and spoiled?
HAIR is my favorite musical ever, bar none hands down all that stuff.
I would take my hair more seriously if it didn’t completely suck. I have bad hair. I was once told it wasn’t pretty enough for a property management position. I was told this. During the interview. She pointed to her own hair and nodded at mine, making a twirling motion with her fingers. Then she winced and said, “It’s too many split ends. We can’t have somebody looking like that who represents us.”
