On Oct. 19, the next generation Pixel 2 will launch, right on time to compete with the iPhone 8, released on Sept. 22. Both phones are getting lots of buzz online, but when it comes to which device has captured Social’s heart, the Pixel 2 takes the cake. It gets 71 percent positive sentiment vs. the iPhone 8’s 62 percent. The Pixel is a bit lighter, both in your pocket and on your wallet, costing $100 less than the newest iPhone. But for that price, buyers can expect a larger screen and slightly better camera. That said, the iPhone 8 has a battery that lasts almost twice as long, and as TechRadar pointed last week, both phones have a lot in common. Neither one has a headphone jack, for example, and their screens are pretty similar in sharpness and color display. Ultimately, reviewer James Rogerson wrote, the biggest differences come down to operating system. The choice between Android and iOS is never easy, but buyers are likely to pick what they like best, despite Social’s vote for Android. –Hugo Guzman
