Eight year-old Logan is awesome. There’s no way around it. He’s been fighting Leukemia (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, to be exact) since 2009, undergoing 40 months of chemotherapy until the cancer went into remission in early 2013. Logan and his mom, Kyrsha, along with their family and friends, celebrated being cancer-free until a few months later, when they discovered it was back.
Just chillin’
Now Logan is in the hospital again, facing another two years of chemo and radiation. Because his cancer has recurred, the doctors are going at it full-force and it’s pretty rough on the kid. Luckily, they think the cancer is treatable—about 80% chance of success.
But watching the video above, you don’t see a kid with cancer who is suffering—you see a funny, goofy, awesome guy who just wants to have fun, dancing to LMFAO’s ridiculously catchy mega-hit, “I’m Sexy and I Know It”.
Kyrsha tries not to get bogged down in the technicalities of the disease or worries for the future. She trusts Logan’s fantastic doctors, and leaves the worrying up to them. Instead, she focuses every day on making Logan’s life fun. Instead of thinking, “What could go wrong?” she thinks, “What fun stuff are we gonna do tonight?” Cue football games in the hospital hallways and in-room dance parties.
When you watch this video of Logan, you can’t help but reminded of how much joy and love can exist—even in the hardest of times.
