Everyone has a Thanksgiving story to tell. These came in at 140 characters or less.
It’s generally thought that Thanksgiving is a holiday spent with family, friends, or other loved ones (unless you are working retail, but that’s another post).
And there’s no such thing as a perfect family or a perfect holiday. Something’s bound to go wrong. Some wrongs make us not want to gather around the table again. Ever. Some become the stuff of family legend, retold around every turkey years after the participants have passed.
And some make it on to late night TV.
Jimmy Fallon invited viewers to tweet their Thanksgiving stories with the hashtag #ThanksgivingFail.
You know before he starts that it might be a little mean. You hope that everyone involved will find it funny. You might wonder if it’s going to be a round of male-bashing about incompetent cooking or too much time watching football, or a round of female-bashing about dry turkey and not enough game time.
The answer? None of the above. You’d find little snapshots of ordinary family life, things that could happen to anyone.
Although no one deserves that fried turkey. No one.
