The Black Dog, A Film On Depression

Does The Black Dog Follow you around?  Is he YOUR constant companion?

This film is from the Danish film project The Current, which has just begun it’s third season. In each season eight new directors from all over the word makes each their short film (max 5 minutes), which deals with a social tendency the director finds relevant.

The first director of the season, Danish Marc Sutton has had Depression and really wanted to work with the topic in his film. Since he felt like a lot of people don’t have a clear understanding of what it can be like and since it’s not a visible condition and still is a pretty big tabu. His film is called, The Black Dog.

Marc himself says about his film: “Winston Churchill was a manic-depressive. He’d never use the “D” word, but instead refer to it as “The black dog”.We all want to be these strong independent citizens, so letting your true feelings known would be too big of a punch to the pride. I thought It would be quite interesting to try and portrait some of these feelings that surrounds you, when the black dog’s barking.”
The film’s main cast is the British model, George Alsford, who has his acting debut, since he also thinks the subject is very important to discuss.
