Republicans ask Todd Akins to Bow Out of Missouri Senate Race, Akins Refuses

You can say a lot of things about Todd Akins, and many have. But apparently the man isn’t a quitter.

The Washington Post reports on how Akins is insisting upon continuing his race for Missouri Senate despite being asked by many prominent Republicans to bow out.

Many big-name Republicans have repudiated the comment, and Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Senate candidate and former congresswoman Heather Wilson (R-N.M.) have called for Akin to drop out of the race. National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (R-Texas) said in a statement that Akin should take 24 hours to reevaluate what’s best for himself and his party.

It should be noted that Akins claims he hasn’t received any direct requests to drop out of the race.

What do you think? Should Akins drop out of the race or have his numerous back-pedals made it clear that he didn’t mean “legitimate rape” but rather “forcible rape”?

What do you think would best serve the Republican party, at this point?
