The Good Men Project

What Are the Benefits to Fathers In Developing Relationships With Kids?

Last month, GMP writers, editors and members held a fascinating conversation with Dr. Donald E Grant, Jr about the benefits and changes in fatherhood in this generation.

In this conversation, four men sit down to really get into the nitty gritty of fatherhood – including Dr. Grant, GMP’s Families editor (and father of two sons) Whit Honea, and Thaddeus, who is the father of a 10 year-old son with Autism.

Thaddeus’ stories of how he quit his corporate job to be with his son are awesome and give hope to lots of other parents of kids with Autism.

Donald offers perspectives from a mental health perspective on everything from the science behind the bonds of fatherhood to the everyday challenges of dads across the country – including the dreaded “Daddy’s babysitting” comments all the dads on the panel recognize and groan at.

Donald also talks about ways to engage more dads in being deeply involved with their kids, and all the dads weigh in on how they’ve grown as a result of being dads.

Thanks, fellas, for one of the most fascinating conversations we’ve held in our Premium Member Google+ Hangouts. Hope to have you all on again soon!
