We all know the Globe had a rough week. The Tribune decided to do something nice about it.
Jennifer Peters, Metro Editor of The Boston Globe (@GlobeJenPeter), tweeted that earlier today the Chicago Tribune bought the Globe pizzas and then tweeted a photo of the note.
The letter reads:
To the Boston Globe newsroom:
We can only imagine what an exhausting and heartbreaking week it’s been for you and your city. But do know your newsroom colleagues here in Chicago and across the country stand in awe of your tenacious coverage. You make us all proud to be journalists.
We can’t buy you lost sleep, so at least let us pick up lunch.

This is a very thoughtful thing for the Tribune to do. After all of the sadness, uncertainty, and fear from the last week — not to mention the ridiculous deadlines, the constantly shifting and urgent details they must have dealt with trying to deliver the best information to the people of Boston and the world — pizzas from a competing newspaper is just one more reminder that we’re all in this together.
