My Last Days: Meet Ryan Woods

“We’re all in the process of dying. What story are you going to live out?”

After listening to Ryan Woods’ story, my heart sank. He recounts his battle with a rare disease known as a glioblastoma. However, throughout the video, Woods does not seek pity from the viewer. Majority of the time he is smiling with his family and loved ones. While he does not ask for sympathy, Woods does pose one request to any listener: to help cultivate a community.

But what does he mean to cultivate a community?

Every day, we are posed with a myriad of obstacles that we’re suppose to overcome. At the end of the day, any deterrent or disease may overcome our bodies, but as Woods points out, so long as we possess a triumphant spirit, our story and influence will live past our existence. It is with this belief, that in time, our ideals and passion will help create a better society than the one we live in today.
