How would you handle it if you had a famous dad?
 —
Earlier this morning I wrote about Rob Lowe, who–if his two books are to be believed–appears to be a super-dedicated and loving father behind that famously handsome face. And it made me wonder what it would have been like to grow up with a dad who was constantly being recognized (sometimes by women he might have spent an hour or two with back in his wilder days) and how it would have affected me growing up.
For me the answer all depends on whether or not fame changed my father. I doubt it would and chances are I’d stay the same, but that’s all pure conjecture. Was his consistency the result of a life that didn’t offer much excitement beyond the many joys of fatherhood? Or was it just because that’s who he is and nothing would ever change it? I like to think it’s the latter and I like to think the same about myself.
How about you?
