Einstein Studied This Stuff

I assume this infinity

Because of the light

Beyond my window

Near the black holes

The Endless light

I am not reduced

To strawberry candy bars

For they are not light

The sun does not originate the light

Buster Keaton did not originate the light nor did he care for the light I lie.

Nor do i

For the curves and protuberances of women galore

They, the women, used to ask me to marry them,

One time,

When I had a job.

I would say the women are light

But I, an unemployed plumber,

Know that lust is not light

Nor is the night light I lie.

Tim Ruane is an artist and writer. He is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he studied English and art, and has worked as a chief copy editor in the editorial department of The Washington Post, where he has also worked as a freelance photographer. He has written hundreds of poems, two novels a number of short stories. His photographs have been published by The Washington Post, Simon & Schuster and The Good Men Project. He has shown his photographs at Potomac MD Public Library and is scheduled to be published in ShareArt LA, Circumfleks Magazine and Splinter Literary Journal.
