‘Poor Things’ is out now on digital
I enjoy a good drama now and then. When done right, they can take viewers on a pretty interesting journey. When I heard about Poor Things I was unsure if it would be good or not. I was able to get a digital code for this film and here is what I thought of it.

You can read the plot for Poor Things here:
From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes this incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

This film was a little too odd for my tastes. It has a good beginning, but only gets stranger from there. Having the first half in black and white was a nice touch, and helped set the tone for this part of the movie. Once this film comes to a close, life for Bella will never be the same. ‘Possessing Beauty’ showed the process of bringing this story to life and had the cast and crew talking about working on this film. There are also a few deleted scenes.

Poor Things arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD March 12th.
