When Asked Why I Listen To Music Where ‘They Scream So Much’

when asked why I listen to music where
they scream so much
I tell them there are days when I choke
on my own voice
and my words are unreadable through
tears or night sweats or bone bruises or
silence and I need someone else to
scream them for me louder the better
I say it’s because my RA wouldn’t let me
leave his room his hands pressed bruises
into my arms he wouldn’t let me go
and with that he pulled down my pants
and with that he pulled down my trust he
pulled down Authority he pulled down the
walls and the flagpoles pulled down the
plans and the years pull down the tuning
dropped it pulled straight and narrow
off its tracks pulled pickets from
fences wipes from eyes pulled what’s the
point of this from the post holes
pulled my eyelids up and night pulled
them down intimacy pulled the doors open
like please leave the doors open I’m
just more comfortable with the door left
open
