Gay-friendly does not always mean trans-friendly, which made his second coming-out hard for Jude.
Jude’s upbringing was the thing most gay kids dream of…parents who were opening accepting of gay youth, ready to accept a girlfriend from their daughters.
That coming out, while a little scary, was fine. They were true to their word. But as Jude got into a relationship with a woman, though, Jude started becoming aware that he was transgender.
He had heard his parents made slightly transphobic comments, especially about transwomen, how wearing other-gender clothes were ok but hormones and changing your body were not, but never giving reasons. He was devastated. Here were two people who had promised to always love and support Jude, and now he positive they would not accept him.
The rest of his story…and the end more of these stories should have.
