Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and more
You are someone who Gets To celebrate heroes
Whether a soul’s service is counted in years or decades
All our heroes overcame more within themselves than most of us ever will
Sometimes they are better for it
Sometimes they also hurt for it
Sometimes few others understand
They built the best version of themselves
They overcame constant setbacks

In his skills, in his service, in his place in loved one’s and citizen’s hearts
A gorgeous woman with a Jesus tattoo and kindnesses to me
With faith that has been tested in ways mine never will during her service as a Marine
So many beautiful people!
Some just go on quietly living
And few people know their stories
But all of us benefit from their service
Honor and peace and protection
Furthering high character and high achievements
For a nation that does exceptional good
America’s veterans are a sacred gift
You are beautiful
You are strong
You are enough
You are valued
You are set apart
You are honorable
And we Get To remember you
Get To enjoy freedoms that cost a lot of hearts
Get To have priests and leaders and neighbors
Who show us truths and love we would not otherwise know
Get To say “Thank you” with words and actions
Get To have so much to be grateful for
We have each been given so much because of you.
