How to Deal With an Undercover Bully

Recently I’ve come into contact with something I’d like to call an undercover bully.

While most people think bullies are big and in your face what we’re talking about today is those bullies who operate undercover. These bullies are hard to spot but here’s a few ways to know when you encounter one.

The first thing you must know is they make themselves increasingly “valuable” to other people. They are usually trying to please the people that are important to them, whether that’s whoever gives them their paycheck or the people around them that can give them an advantage.

So what’s left for the other people who don’t fit either category? Well, that’s where the undercover bully shows their mean side. It’s a little confusing because these bullies seem to be nice to everyone but in fact bully only the people they don’t care about.

Undercover bullies are interesting in the fact that they hide behind other people. To further explain, undercover bullies don’t rule with the iron fist directly with everybody, but instead they use other people in front of them to do their dirty work. Undercover bullies don’t want to deal with other people’s feelings and want to be on top of everyone. Another thing that’s funny about them is while they want to rule with the iron fist, they don’t really want to abide by their own rules.

Last but not least is the attitude and demeanor is very arrogant and they use that to put up a wall to keep you out. So one of the things you can do to deal with these people is to identify the fact that you’re dealing with an undercover bully. Recognize that bullies are scared individuals that need to put on airs to make them grandiose.

The next thing you want to do is realize that their Emotional Intelligence is very low, and so when you’re dealing with them they are not going to have the same ability to communicate at a certain level. In other words, yes, you will one day need to step over them.

So remember when you’re dealing with someone who’s acting a little rude, you could actually be dealing with an undercover bully.
