There are some lucky people born with leadership qualities. They are kind, supporting, they guide with love, they stay in their truth, they are open to learn, to discuss and negotiate, they are strong and very self-conscious, they’re curious, they’re flexible and loyal, they’re confident and they are peaceful warriors.
It’s a big illusion that a big boss is a leader. NO! Most of the people in leading positions misunderstood the concept of leadership, that’s why they are unhappy and every worker in their team too. I’ve seen it all over again during my time in a big company. I see it now, from stories of my friends.
Many leaders try to play the role of a VIP and manipulate, even yell at people, threaten, give them feelings of guilt and a feeling of not living up to their high expectations. Once I even cried because one of my bosses made me feel so guilty and the situation felt so real to me. How crazy is that?
Everybody talks about leadership, science, etc but there are such easy principles for a person to be a leader. A stay-at-home parent can be a wonderful, powerful leader as much as Elon Musk, who is leading multiple international companies.
If a true leader has a key to a door – (s)he will keep that door open for everyone to follow. Be it your kid, your team, your partner. If you’re walking in front of others and you (and them) know it – let them know, that you will always help get where you are, if they desire it.
If a true leader has knowledge – (s)he will share it with grace and an open heart. Knowledge is powerful, so why keeping it? If it helps you, it will help somebody else too. Sharing is caring.
If a true leader has climbed the ladder – (s)he will turn around, help those behind to climb to the same place, and only then (s)he will climb higher. A leader wants others to succeed too. It makes a real leader happy to see others thrive!
If a true leader has no clue – (s)he will ask those who know and be grateful for their help. A real leader won’t be shy to ask for advice, help, support. If you don’t know – ask! One person can’t know it all.
If a true leader has success – (s)he knows that it’s not only hers/his achievement but the achievement of many people around. (S)he will give credits to everyone and acknowledge their support. From our parents, to our friends and colleagues, our partners and lovers – we are the „product of influence & support“ of so many people. Every person in our life has a special, very important purpose. Why not telling them the good news? They will feel special and loved and that’s beautiful.
Leadership is a state of mind. Its a practice. We all have it within us.
