A trend to note: The pick up artist to fundamentalist religion pipeline is thriving. It should come as no surprise that men like Roosh V who got rich extolling the virtue of controlling women are shifting to the patriarchal monster that is fundamentalist religion.
For those who may not know Andrew Tate converted to Islam in 2022. Like others in the manosphere who advocate for the subjugation of women, Tate is finding vast numbers of new followers among religious extremists.
All major faiths are rooted in patriarchal notions of gender. Some may not have started out that way, but hundreds of years ago, religious leaders shifted the teachings of the major faiths to enforce male control over women and girls.
MRA’s, incels, pick up artists, masculinity extremist leaders are gravitating towards fundamentalist religion as the new grift. Such ideological alignments would not be possible were all faiths, fundamentalist or otherwise, not infused with centuries old patriarchal beliefs.
What is needed is a global movement for a women’s liberation theology. Until women and non-binary people are mandated equal power and rights to that of men in every faith, masculinity extremists will flock to religions for the same reasons they flocked to pick up artists.
It’s not lost on me that the absolute interpersonal authority vibe created by pick up artists aligns exactly with the energy of every religious fundamentalist man I have known. That they know with unshakable certainty what is true, right, real about women. Same vibe.
Control over women is always underpinned by hatred for women, driving the MAGA assault on Roe and women’s rights across the board. The manosphere is a 100% Venn diagram overlap for religious extremism, taking on weaponized notions of the god to continue their war on women.
