As part of my goals for 2024, I aim to share more about myself through my writing and provide readers with a better understanding of the person behind my articles. Although I believe I have already made some progress in my writing journey, there is still much more room for improvement. During my brainstorming session, I came across the concept of 30-day challenges, which seemed like the perfect opportunity to achieve my goal. Today is the sixth day of my thirty-day challenge.
Prompt #6: Three ways to win your heart.
This prompt is a unique question that took me some time to think about. Winning someone’s heart can happen in various ways and mean different things to different people. The following three things are what I truly value in someone and what impact my perception of someone.
- Manners. This one is huge for me. There is no quicker way to my heart than someone who exhibits manners and carries themselves in a respectful and kind way to the others around them. This is one of the first things I noticed about my wife and how I knew she was the one I wanted to make a life with. She is truly kind and sweet to everyone and is polite to those around her. I strive to keep my manners in impeccable shape, and I do my absolute best always to say please and thank you when appropriate. I find manners an easy way to quickly judge someone’s character and heart. There is nothing that turns me off from someone quicker than seeing them be rude to servers or anyone around them. I will quickly cut ties and keep my distance from someone if they disrespect anyone repeatedly.
- Kindness. This one relates directly to my previous one because this is truly what I value above all else. Kindness truly is something that is pivotal in people that I choose to associate with closely. I think this world is too cold of a place not to treat others with kindness. It really doesn’t take much effort or work to be kind to others. We all can do this, no matter our place in life or our financial standing. The incredible thing about kindness is it is completely free.
- Home Cooking. There is a certain magic and sense of comfort that comes from preparing and enjoying a meal in the comfort of your own home. It’s not just about the food but the entire experience surrounding it. From the tantalizing aromas that fill the air as you chop, sauté, and simmer to the satisfaction of sitting down at the table and savoring each bite, home cooking nourishes both the body and the soul. It allows us to connect with our roots, honor traditions, and create new memories.
