Prejudice, hate, abuse, and active denial of human rights are not genetic. These traits are taught, modeled by parents, media, authority figures, textbooks, and even city/town planners. These destructive behaviors have become our societal norms.
It is our goal at The Good Men Project (GMP) to change the conversation, end the blind acceptance of all that deems anyone, any human or sentient being, as insignificant, less than, or not as good as. We explore the root of prejudicial behavior and aberrant social norms every day with every post.
GMP understands that the norm is established by the people in power — financial, government, or both — i.e. the ruling class and the oligarchy; autocracy, monarchy, and dictatorships. These rulers of our economy and our government support the inequality inherent in the norm with money and laws.
In all cases, these rulers established prejudice to create a clear distinction between US and THEM. In this country, the US are self-appointed privileged cis white Christian male. THEM is everyone else. However, the problem is global. For rulers intent on rule by fear, it is not enough to have THEM. To maintain control, THEM must be divided and set against each other via hate mongering: i.e. racism, sexism, anti-religious-ism, tribalism, and cultural differences.
When feelings of superiority, entitlement, power, and control are at stake, people who have or want it will defeat and crush the spirit of those who stand in their way. Established as the elite, they can blame THEM for any problems and designate THEM as workers/slaves without any rights.
GMP fights back.
GMP’s goals are to encourage its community to live with intention, make choices that advance their own and all human rights, to create kinder, more empathetic men, and women, and end the abuse that permeates our society.
How? GMP, through writing and conversations, seeks to identify and address the problems directly, through personal experiences supported by research. We seek to change societal issues by educating our base, who educates their family and friends and thereby help inspire a movement.
The now inspired and socially aware lend their voice and attack our societal problems through local, state, and national politics and work to make change through organizations such as Indivisible.
GMP is not staffed nor meant to be the tool of change, it is meant to support our community of writers and readers that they may give voice to enlightenment and truth.
We celebrate Gay Pride all year long. But this year, we’re doing some special programing for a large-scale campaign #LoveEqually. We’re looking for both sponsors and contributors. Check it out! https://t.co/tkraXFPxLL pic.twitter.com/X2FlBEZb8Y
