Each of us sees the world with a frame of reference based on our past and present. It is true that perspective matters. Artists can paint a picture from many different perspectives, and they will see different parts of the picture. Some features are hidden until a slight shift is made, and then the perspective changes and the picture can become completely different.
This concept is true in art and life.
For example, have you ever been intrigued by someone or something, only to find it isn’t really what it appeared to be as you get closer? The image from afar is well-put-together, poised, and confident, and as the image gets closer, the rough edges, breaks, and tears are visible distracts to what was once a beauty to behold.
How does this happen? Why does this phenomenon exist? Perhaps it exists to keep us continuing to question what we see. It’s here to encourage the inner desire to seek more understanding and wisdom along our life journey. Now more than ever, questioning what we see and how we define what we know is to pursue a virtue that lives within.
This is the reality of humanity. It is a beautiful image of life, love, civilization, momentum, and beauty from afar. Yet, a closer look reveals imperfections, bruises, and blemishes that create a different perspective deepening on your vantage point. It is the human experience. To understand that we see from one perspective and must shift our perspective to gain a full understanding of the picture presented. Choosing only to see things one way is a flaw that could lead to exploitation, mediocrity, and a false sense of power and control.
Continue to be the artist of your life, shifting the perspectives in as many different ways as possible to fully see a path forward filled with wonder, love, and hope. We could use more of that these days.
