In times where we want everything for yesterday, the internet facilitating everything and the days seem to get shorter and shorter in the face of our routine, people who manage to look beyond themselves stand out.
It’s the kind of thing you realize after the fact: your friend, mom, girlfriend, or any relative you should also care about doesn’t talk to you often either. What to think? Out of pride or carelessness, we stop getting more involved with people simply by accepting that our routine is getting us down, but we can avoid this with a simple question: “Is everything okay?”
People have no idea of the power of that question!
We are so distant from those we love in our routine that a simple gesture can change and mean a lot.
If pride is something that prevents you from talking to someone, then maybe it’s time to allow yourself to be a different person, the kind of alpha person who takes control of the situation and takes action.
We cannot depend or wait for others to do the same, but being the one who took the initiative is largely rewarding.
We know about people’s difficulties, we know that sometimes even close people forget us for a while amid the routine chaos. Asking this question can lead to magical moments, from a simple answer to true confessions where you realize how important you are to someone.
Being an action person is taking control of your ego, putting the excuse for your disappearance in the bag and interacting with the people who really matter to you. In this way we increase the chance that someone will be there when you need them, the saying never fails, we reap what we sow.
Take advantage of practicing this week and see the surprising results around you.
