When it comes to Father’s Day, dads usually get the short end of the stick. We learned that people spend about $7 billion more for Mother’s Day than for Father’s Day. In fact, many dads are lucky to even get a card or call. Break the status quo and surprise dad this year with a fun-filled day outside, where you both can enjoy the longer days and warmer weather. Here are five ideas on how to make the most of your Father’s Day with dad:
1. Catch Up
Grab your fishing pole, bait and hook and head to the lake. There’s no need to rent a fancy boat or hike deep into the mountains to hook a fish. Get creative with your catch of the day and prepare a delicious seafood dinner.
2. Rocky Challenge
Challenge your dad to beat you to the top of the rock-climbing wall! Even if you both are novices, you can find a local indoor rock climbing facility to test your calf muscles. Although you both might be sore afterwards, you’ll get a great work out in while bonding with pops.
3. Fore!
Nothing is as relaxing as a nice round of golf with your dad on the green. Score extra brownie points by acting as his caddie and maybe letting him go on a stroke or two. End the round by treating him to a nice club sandwich at the country club.
4. Hiking Expedition
Grab some fresh air by venturing out with dad to a hiking trail. Don’t forget to pack a backpack with snacks and a blanket to enjoy the view once you get to the top. Play a game of “I Spy” like old times to bring a smile to pop’s face!
5. Set Sail
Channel your inner Christopher Columbus and set sail on the ocean blue. Even if you don’t know your port side from your starboard side, sign you and dad up for a sailing class to learn some of the basics while enjoying the fresh breeze in your hair! Plus, think of all the photo opportunities!
