
Encouraging openness is important. Not berating a lack of perfection is, too.

Well tell me, the first thing to do is to not berate another man to your partner when that person is not being the manly man you think they should be. Your partner then is being taught that you’ll think less of him if he does anything similar, and keeps a level of trust from growing. If you want him to be open then you have to encourage openness. And if he does make tentative steps toward that then recognize that effort, because what he just did is to pay you a huge compliment that you are trust worthy with his being. He has just made a small step toward overcoming his entire life training experience.
