There is something that you want to accomplish but prefer to wait and then suddenly miss that opportunity. Regret is the worst thing about it, that is all you have after the chance is lost so why look for that outcome when you can take action at the right time?
Having the guts to do what you feel is right is something that very few people do and is totally normal, we prefer to live in our little bubble where nothing can go wrong, the problem about that is that there are some doors that close and never open outside that safe zone.
Imagine this setting, you are in a coffee shop and are about to sit down with your steaming cup of dark deliciousness and suddenly you stop dead in your tracks and see her (or him) and you can’t believe how beautiful she is, but you hesitate and start to think of different excuses of why you shouldn’t go and introduce yourself, after thinking of every excuse in the book (don’t know if there is a book haha) you prefer to sit elsewhere so she can’t see you.
After drinking your coffee you start to leave the coffee shop and see her but this time she is talking with a complete stranger, somebody who was afraid of talking to her but did it anyway. All of a sudden a door shut in your face, you feel like you blew it by not talking to her because you feared that you weren’t good enough or any other excuse you can think of.
The result of all of this is an awful feeling, regret, that emotion that nobody likes to even talk about. So why wait for regret when you can simply leave it behind?
I’ve got a tip that can help you with taking action and not losing your opportunity in life and is so easy to use that you start using as soon as you finish reading this little article!
The 3-second rule
It’s as simple as it sounds, as soon as you see something that you want to do you have 3 seconds to act or you don’t do it at all! It may sound harsh but those 3 seconds don’t give you enough time to evaluate what can happen if you tried it so you go head first into the thing you wanted to do without much expectation!
So now if we go back to the little story above about the coffee shop and use the 3 second rule effectively we can stop our excuses dead in their tracks and go talk to that person sipping coffee in the corner and have no expectation, so what if she rejected you, so what if you didn’t like her personality, at least you gave it a shot and that is the most important part!
So go ahead and give it a try it, learn what your fears are and go head first anyway so you can learn that they aren’t as bad as they seem!
