According to Forbes, the U.S. economy could lose close to $4 trillion in GDP through 2025 if infrastructural investment doesn’t pick up. But after the first reports emerged of how Trump plans to fill that gap, many on Social are starting to think it’s not worth it. Axios reported on Wednesday that Trump endorsed a 25 cent gas tax to fund repairs to vital infrastructure. Most Republicans balked, according to the report, as gas hikes would hit working-class Trump voters hardest. What’s more, many are saying that the $1.5 trillion Trump’s plan, revealed on Monday, doesn’t go far enough. House Democrats drafted a counter-proposal, which calls for five times the amount of federal investment Trump would give local and state governments. With pressure from both Left and Right, it’s a wonder that the plan isn’t doing even worse than it is on Social. There, it gets 53 percent negative sentiments, with some calling the plan “a fraud” and a “scam.” –Hugo Guzman
