But the Trump Administration has managed to co-opt the term to match its immigration views, and Social isn’t happy about it. Last week, Attorney General Jeff Sessions told reporters: “If you cross the border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you … if you’re smuggling a child, then we’re going to prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you. If you don’t want your child separated, then don’t bring them across the border illegally.” That version of zero tolerance recently extended to the caravan of migrants that traveled from Central America seeking asylum since 11 people who made the dangerous trek are now being criminally charged by the Justice Dept., according to The New York Times. White House Chief of Staff John Kelly doesn’t think the whole displacing kids from their parents thing is a big deal, telling NPR, “The children will be taken care of — put into foster care or whatever.” Kelly and Sessions are in step with Trump, but not with the majority of those who use social media. Over the past seven days, “Zero Tolerance Policy” has a 24 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
