For nearly two years, I thought that since I don’t have hair (that includes, but is not limited to, facial hair), I wasn’t a man.
Now, I understand that I was wrong. However, it’s still weird!
It’s like my puberty just didn’t consult my hair department.
Besides my face, none on my arms, my legs, my torso.
I dunno.
I’m 29 years old. My maturation process has done its thing in every other facet.
I guess I’m relegated to this reality.
I just hope that women won’t care. I have no idea if it bothered my ex. I know that some women aren’t fans of hairy men, so admittedly, this may not be an issue.
Cosmopolitan asks if men should “manscape” – tear off remove their body hair.
What about those of us who don’t have a choice?
I’ve searched about this issue and I find pretty much nothing scientific about why at least a few men (who else is out there?) are smooth all over.
Perhaps my first question to women should be if they like hairless? Just because of the unusual (extenuating?) circumstances.
I deal with it fine enough except when I see women, just day-to-day, with more hair than me (that doesn’t mean they are hairy). There’s a masculinity that, in my alternative reality at that moment, completely drains from me and goes to them. If it doesn’t make me want to ask them to do all the “manly” things (even if I don’t know them), I do at least think “let’s just switch bodies.”
It doesn’t jive at all with logic, but perhaps it has to do with pride and jealousy of their beautiful body hair.
But isn’t that the problem? Why is hair a “masculine trait?” (And why is lack of hair a “feminine trait?”) Why can’t you be a man without hair?
I’m wondering if this isn’t just yet another thing we must redefine when it comes to men.
If it was, perhaps women would say “come to me, baby skin.” Or not.
Still, for society!
In the meantime, does ROGAINE® work for other parts of your body besides your head?
