@L:
I didn’t know it was a discussion about men’s rights and things. it’s an open thread that started with a comment (not necessarily by a man, AFAIK) about a book on how to get laid, and I merely commented on that.
And, I think there’s a lot more at stake in having a satisfying social life and status, than just getting laid enough. But I’ll shut up for now.
Not sure how to feel about all discussions concerning men’s rights and things always coming back (it seems) to the problem of not getting laid enough.
/simple thought on complex subject
@Dvärghundspossen: Yeah, well, I’m probably as far from a PUA as you can get. Yet if all you’ve tried has failed, the common denominator for your fails is still you.
@FlyingKal: Holly Pervocracy wrote something about that… How you might think either that your pick-up success depends entirely on other people, or entirely on you. Both are mistakes since it’s a mix of the two, but PUA:s tend to err on the latter side.
@Dvärghundspossen, post #1.
Another thing to keep in mind regarding Henrik Fexeus and the “everyone can get laid” book.
His “advice” about having a normal interaction that might lead to sexytime with a VHP, or with anyone for that matter, is still dependant on that person being somewhat interested in having a conversation with you.

Right so every desire I had to buy the next Call of Duty Black Ops game has dissipated entirely after Moviebob posted a link to this on his twitter account http://kotaku.com/5906866/watch-oliver-north-shill-call-of-duty-black-ops-ii/gallery/1
Yep thats Oliver North as in Oliver North the convicted fucking war criminal seriously WTF mainstream gaming industry?
Re: an old discussion about why female authority figures/teachers/mentors/caretakers might be harder on those under them than men… this isn’t exactly that, but it addresses a very similar phenomenon that is probably related: http://www.rolereboot.org/culture-and-politics/details/2012-05-why-arent-there-more-female-authors I’ve always felt that my female teachers always percieved me as some sort of threat (to their well-being, to their reputation, whatever), even the ones that didn’t openly start altercations with me, and even with the male teachers that did openly hate me as a student, I never got the vibe that they felt I was enchroaching on them or something. And the ones that were… Read more »
A My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fanfic recommendation. Advice from Pinkie Pie, by HopeFox. http://archiveofourown.org/works/282432 Summary by the author: Rarity has a new coltfriend, but isn’t sure what to do if their next date proves more… intimate than the last. She seeks guidance from her friends, but the best advice comes from a most unexpected source. Why it’s awesome: If you’re squicked by the idea of ponies and sex in the same fic, this is NOT pr0n. This fic perfectly replicates the MLP: FIM universe, except that there are discussions of sex that would never happen on the actual… Read more »
@makomk: SRS is a terrible face of feminism. (Go to bigotryshowcase, about half the stuff there is from SRS.) Although so is r/feminisms. Which leaves r/feminism where they claim they want equality for women, they are actively opposed to attempts to bring up getting that equality if it would help men/hurt women. (So things like the selective service). Which is still a fairly bad face of feminism, however it seems to lack any outright bigotry.
given that therem had around half the posts in that thread and as a result about half the ones that weren’t by her were arguing against her it doesn’t really take more than disagreeing with her to agree with most of the others
I found myself agreeing with most of the posts that weren’t from tharem, which is highly puzzling, because they seem to think they’re arguing against me.
@makomk: Lol, I found myself agreeing with half of the non-idiotic posts on that thread; i.e. the ones that are longer than a sentence, have a point beyond “WATM IS STUPID”, and aren’t bawwing about “feminist” languge (because feminists totally registered patents for all those words and shit).
Apparently the bloggers here are evilly attacking feminism by appropriating feminist language and (even worse!) actually focusing on men. At least, so say SRS, public face of the feminist movement to most of Reddit:

Here’s the column. Amy does a very good job of calling the lady out.
An advice column that made me rage. (At the person asking for advice not the response.) The person is complaining that the guy her daughter is “seriously dating” was never in the military. Complains about how he gets to live a life of luxury, ect. ect. without every fighting for it, while her family has a long history of military service. Her son’s and husband were all in the military. Not her daughter or herself. So she is complaining because like herself AND her daughter the guy her daughter is dating never joined the military. … Seriously what the hell?… Read more »
Then let’s take it beyond that then L.
Should we expect that women, as a courtes, tell their husbands what mastubatory devices they are using while he is deployed?
@Danny: It’s an interesting discussion, and an interesting idea, but as far as what I, personally, think, I can’t really see it being a huge deal beyond “OMG DUDES PUTTING THEIR DONGS IN INANIMATE OBJECTS” (because the idea that women/the non-penised might want in on that wouldn’t occur to anybody, because shame shame double shame on men who use sex toys why that must mean they’re pathetic losers that can’t get any real action, because alternative sexualities are ickybad, etc.) when it comes right down to it. I mean, when realdoll brothels start popping up in American cities, there’ll be… Read more »
@pocketjacks: “I really, really dislike the idea of robo-love, to be honest. I don’t like how technology is making it too easy for people to dissociate completely from one another.” Plenty of people are left out already, technology or not. Society isn’t all that inclusive these days. That’s why there’s such demand for technology like this in the first place. @L: “Ignoring the obvious whinge, I don’t think sex workers in general have a problem with social ineptitude (that’s… part of the reason they exist to begin with), but rather johns that wind up starting trouble.” Many societies have a… Read more »
I don’t recall saying it was a big woo hoo. Just a post I wanted to share.
@monkey: I saw that before. It looks to me like someone decided it would be a good idea to kick him off the team. And then everyone else thought that was a poor idea. Its almost certainly going to be reverted. Not the least because it is in fact a blatant violation of title IX.
Oh fuck my life. Whatever, you all know how to read, you can ignore my html derp.
@Danny: What about the people that want relationships with real humans but don’t have them but still want to satisfy their sexual desires? Then they’re irrelevant to the discussion about relations with synthetic people and robots? Isn’t that worth something then? Giving people an outlet that doesn’t involved trying to find people that share that fetish? Uh, yes? I wasn’t making a judgment call, I was simply stating what would be likely to happen. But from what I understand creeps are a pretty serious problem apparently. And who knows maybe human sex workers won’t be the only ones that will… Read more »
A boy was kicked off a girls’ field hockey team for being too “dominant.”
http://jezebel.com/5905670/13+year+old-boy-kicked-off-girls-hockey-team-for-being-too-awesome
The good thing about this story is that the girls have stood up for him.
