  1. Love Bill Walker and all his work! I’ve been a fan ever since he was writing for TV in the 90′s. This column is just more proof of why he’s awesome: unrelenting honesty in a fun-to-read format. Even when he’s giving the soft-sell on a place like Club Med, I LOVE that he has his own sense of humor about it! It’s better than just funny–it’s REAL. (And for the record, the idea of running into a real, actually-cool person on vacation at Club Med might actually make me want to go!) Awesome column, Mr. Walker! Keep up the awesomeness :)

  2. Great column…a real LOL! I’m so glad you took the freebie…was afraid you wouldn’t…aren’t you glad you did! Hope the monsters calm down. Brings back memories of being the mom of THREE –count ‘em– girls.

  3. Andrew Ring says:

Another brilliant article by Doug Walker. You never disappoint

  4. Andrew Ring says:

Whoops wrong Walker, I meant William

  5. Bill or Doug or whoever you are today,
I can’t believe you would even think of turning down the chance to eat gristle steak or mutated spagetti with myterious red sauce. Loved my Club Med experiences, just not so much the food. Now please don’t groan…did you say “howdy” to Howdy when you saw him each day…so sorry I just had to ask. Humor is your friend Bill Walker and we are glad for it. Continue to write what you know so well and continue to make us laugh for more.

  6. Can I just say that I am thrilled that someone else remembers that song? I’ve seen years of Oscar ceremonies, but no moment sticks in my mind more vividly than when that song won. Everyone looked so confused.

  7. Never knew “It’s hard Out Here For A Pimp” was a song?! Title is kinda catchy actually. And to think it was nominated!

    • William Lucas Walker says:

Not just nominated, Russell. It WON. In 2006. Gave me a whole new level of respect for the moribund Academy.

  8. Shaun Kelly says:

Another fantastic piece – thanks William.

I love the way you go into travel writer mode and then back into Bill mode in parenthesis after it! I especially like your advice to peek during meditation time – I can never resist doing that, I always peek.
