Jamie Reidy comments on Burger King’s latest disgusting dessert.
NPR’s Nancy Shute reports that BK has a new sweet & salty treat: a bacon sundae.
A $2.49 menu item available only at a handful of Burger Kings in Nashville, Tenn. “The company is currently testing menu items in a small sampling of U.S. restaurants.”
Many critics oink that this addition is yet another step backwards for the healthy movement. But some celebrity chefs have been adding bacon and other real foods to dessert for a while now, so I don’t see what the big deal is.
I also don’t see why the hell anybody would do this.
Dessert isn’t dinner. If I want a meat pie, I’ll order it. I don’t want meat in my pie pie. Blech.
What do you think, yea or nay on bacon-infused desserts?

What in the name of goodness were they thinking?
Denny’s had a similar dessert. I tried it; it wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the components separately.
(They sold it as bacon ice cream; it was actually vanilla ice cream with maple syrup and bacon.)
So you probably don’t like mince-meat pie either?
Bacon flavored desserts don’t appeal to me, but I can’t see how they would be any worse than more conventional ones.
Mincemeat is so disgusting. Though, really, part of the reason I hate mincemeat so much is to do with the raisins.
