As you could probably guess, we take scientists pretty seriously here at Komplicated. Within the field, certain individuals inspire a degree of reverence higher than those of mere mortals, to the point at which their very name warrants its own sentence. Benjamin Banneker. Lewis Latimer. George Washington Carver. Billy Dee Williams.
Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a more recent addition to the list, despite helping kill Pluto’s planetary status (our EIC Hannibal’s still mad about that one).
Dr. Tyson’s recent speech about how NASA is important to the survival of the nation—and, for that matter, the world—is sending ripples throughout the scientific community as an impassioned, thoughtful meditation on the human spirit.
Strangely enough, watching this video actually explains why he metaphorically sold Pluto to the bounty hunter.

A. Darryl Moton, like George Washington Carver, is a graduate of Iowa State University. He currently questions his life choices in Portland, Oregon.

“These men did not expect to live, and now they are learning how to try and live again.”
