“This recent incident was so ridiculous that I can’t help but laugh at it. In reality, it’s a reminder of how bad things have gotten,” one Redditor posted.
“My wife and I have been in a steadily declining, dying bedroom for about 15 years, with sex dwindling from weekly to monthly, to duty, quickie, or intoxicated sex every few months. Even still, until a few months ago, even as things were crashing, I used to love watching her change, and I would often make excuses to wander ‘accidentally’ into our room as she was getting out of the shower to catch a glimpse of her naked. I used to tell her that these little moments were often the highlight of my day. I think she thought I was joking. I wasn’t.”
Ok. Typical dead bedroom so far.
They all start to sound the same, truthfully.
Until he wrote this, “A few months ago, she asked me to stop looking at her when she was naked.”
Unfreaking believable.
So, he stopped looking.
She asked him to stop “chasing” her.
He stopped.
She asked him to stop touching her breasts when they cuddled.
He pulled away.
It resulted in no kisses. No cuddles. No sex.
It’s clueless and cruel when your spouse decides they’re done with you — what the hell do they think is going to happen next? Looking, that’s what. Seeing what’s “out there.” Starting a search on Tinder or Ashley Madison.
Making a move.
Writing a profile.
Looking for a lover.
Who is to blame when the love dies?
Him? Because he will likely cheat? Or her? Because she’s denying a basic need? Either way, no one wins playing tit-for-tat. No one is taught a “lesson” by suffering in silence. Ask me how I know. Because I’ve lived this “I’ll show them” lifestyle for too long.
“I don’t need him, anyway.”
”I’ll do it myself.”
”I don’t care if he doesn’t want me.”
But I did care.
No lessons were learned. The bedroom stayed dead, and the result was two bitter people with divorce looming over our heads.
“I’ve realized that even as the larger sexual connection withered, these ‘micro-attractions’ kept me emotionally attached to her. Now….I’m not. Now there’s very little, even non-sexual emotional attraction and attachment. I’m very sad, and I’m very lonely,” the guy above wrote in his post.
He added this anecdote, “Last weekend I went into our bathroom to see if it was free for me to shower. She is in there, topless, doing her makeup. Startled, I turned around quickly and hurried out. She saw me and called to me. She followed me out, and then there she started reciting the list of all the things she was hoping to get done for that weekend. She was, honeydews out, giving me the honey-do list. It was a very uncomfortable few minutes with her talking, and me trying to look anywhere but at her.”
“I can’t decide if it was cluelessness, teasing, or just plain cruelty. She knows I can’t help but be attracted to her, physically at least. She knows I turn away when she’s naked. It obviously makes me uncomfortable. And yet…there she was in all her topless glory, talking about the least sexy things possible. In retrospect, I can’t help but laugh.”
And you all know how this ended. “The honey-do list got done. I did not.”
I was shaking my head while reading.
He should have interrupted her and said, “Put on a top.”
”I’ll talk to you when you’re appropriately dressed.”
The problem was that he was caught like a deer in headlights (pun intended). He didn’t have enough blood flow to his brain (just maybe his dick).

So many people admitted that they never saw their partner naked.
NEVER.
- “Right there with ya! 20 plus years since I’ve seen my wife naked. The sad part is that if there was a lineup of naked women with faces covered, I would not be able to pick her out.”
- “Damn, bro. That’s fucking level 10 cruelty.”
- “My spouse never looks up from their phone when I change, either.
- “She’s probably cheating.”
(***He should be. I give him my blessing. Mona) - “My wife used to have a mental breakdown if I walked in on her naked.”
- “If I walk into the closet and my wife is changing, she would instinctively dive behind something to cover up, as if she were in a gunfight.”
- I laughed. Gunfight. That shit is tragically funny.
- “Her motivation to get you to work was to see her boobs. A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down,” one insightful Redditor commented.
…
Maybe she was playing games.
Maybe she wasn’t.
It doesn’t matter ultimately.
What kind of life is not being allowed to look at your spouse naked? Or to be cuddled? Or touched?
It’s no way to live. Or love.
