Grant Harris with Image Granted shows how to get your suit to your destination in the best condition possible.
If you’ve ever had to travel with a suit, you know the dread of putting it in a suitcase because of what it looks like on the other end. Harris’s video (with tips below) can help make this part of packing easier.
- Pack suit last/on top of all other items
- Remove everything from pockets inside and out
- Friction is the enemy. Wrap garments in plastic dry cleaning bags to prevent friction.
- Roll trousers to avoid wrinkles
- Turn jacket inside out. Fold twice max.
- Lay jacket as flat as possible in luggage. Use least amount of folds possible.
- Unpack as soon as you arrive. Hang suit to let gravity do it’s work.

Isn’t this a lot more trouble than just buying a garment bag?
I Always use a wardrobe bag but even it the best situations I still had them pressed at the Hotel.
Tom,
Thanks for commenting. While dry cleaning at the hotel may seem convenient, if you are a frequent traveler it may not be the best option. Dry cleaning too often can accelerate the deterioration of your suits over time. Most hotels use harsh chemicals and starches or press garments improperly. If you have the fortunate at staying at better hotels this may be less of an issue, but overall less dry cleaning is better. what would you like to see in our next video?
