To: My Partner We’ve been together for so long that it seems we were together when time began. I don’t care to remember a time before you were a part of my life. We’ve shared life’s ups and downs, raised our children, and endured two very demanding jobs. Through it all we’ve been each other’s lover, confidant, and best friend. I’ve stood by your side as you’ve embarked on the journey to achieve your goals. I’ve been proud to watch you succeed at the things that you love to do. I’ve been your ear and shoulder when your goals for these hobbies haven’t worked out as you planned. I’ve been your cheerleader when all of your hard work and desire to achieve have paid off. I love to see you do the things you love to do.
Now I’ve embarked on the journey to achieving my own personal goals. It’s a life’s passion I’ve dreamed to fulfill. You’ve been my inspiration for going after my dreams. Watching you become fulfilled by your dreams has made me want to achieve my own. You have encouraged me to dream and follow my passions. That’s why now I find it so hard, as I begin to see the results of my hard work, to see you upset by the time away from you. My hobby needs a few hours a week, just a little time for me. It is quality time to connect with who I am as a person. It’s time without bills, children, chores, or all the little dramas that life throws at us. I wish that I felt no guilt for my dreams. I still love you the same. We still spend amazing quality time together. I feel that our time together has been enhanced by my new excitement. It has given us something new and exciting to talk about. I see the sparkle in your eye when I talk to you about the things I love. So I know that you want to see me happy.
Everyone needs that one thing in their life that makes them unique and special. This is my thing, but it doesn’t detract from the most important thing… Us. Just know that even when we can’t walk in the same footsteps, we still walk the same path. You’re never far from my thoughts and always by my side. Without you there is no us. Without us there are no passions, no dreams, no future. Without you to share with I will not succeed.
