I know we’ve all heard the saying, especially in prison, “If you have no expectations you won’t be disappointed.” Yet, if you cancel out your blessings, or possible expectations by putting a “no” in front of them, what can you expect? Words and vibes are some of the most powerful flowing energy in the universe and can, and have created magic.
If one does not expect to write or paint a masterpiece, will he or she? If one does not envision and sing and dance with great expectations, will it happen? It’s possible, but when you say “yes” to expectations and believe you can, it happens. To be great at anything, you must expect and believe you can.
If we want to be great at whatever we choose to do, we must have “yes” expectations; we must put in the hard work to create that reality. I remember when I used to play half-court basketball against some players who were basketball college students and were taller than me, I had “yes” expectations and a little transcendental meditation and I expected to make every shot. Sometimes it seemed like I did. It pissed the great college players off.
We train dogs here at Lancaster and each time new dogs arrive I have “yes” expectations that they will love me and that we will connect on a loving universal level, blessed by Mother Earth. It’s said that if you have “no” expectations you cannot be disappointed? Well, we can be disappointed even then. The universe has a sense of humor. I will keep the “yes” expectations. I may not reach Mars but then I will reach Venus. I will not cancel out my blessing or put “no” in front of them. Sometimes the act of expectations can be the art of letting go. Do expectations exist? If so, doesn’t a thought or belief generate the expectant? Have great “yes” expectations, and you will see it is like reaching for the stars. You are the universe and everyone and everything else in it are stars.
