I’m a mom of four children, Walker (2), Lilly (9), Colette (10), and Hannah (14) and wife to husband, Andy, a car salesman. Before I became the primary caregiver for our family, I was a general manager at a local restaurant.
I write a blog at Adventures of the Mom Kind, which provides inspiration and information for Parents of Autistic Children. I love to read, and the magical experience of getting lost in a book. I also enjoy nature hikes, photography of the outdoors, especially wildlife.

What I do well as a mom.
I’m good at keeping an organized schedule for my four kids. I’m also good at communicating with my children and building a happy, healthy relationship with them. I listen well and help them work through their problems, emotions, and misunderstandings
What I learned from another mom.
Remember to also take care of you. It’s healthy and okay to give yourself permission to take time out as a parent and spend alone time like taking a bubble bath or adult time with friends.
Lesson learned from my child.
To sometimes see the world through the eyes of a child. As we get older, we tend to get stuck in our ways. The view from a child’s eyes brings a whole new and positive perspective. One that focuses on the beautiful things in life we often overlook as adults.
Successful motherhood moment.
My daughter lost one of her baby teeth. She wrote a beautiful note to the tooth fairy and asked for a pair of wings instead of money. I couldn’t find any fairy wings at the store, so I spent three hours hand making a pair of wings with coat hangers, purple tulle, hot glue, and glitter to create fairy wings. When she woke up, it was so fun to see the look on her face and hear her shout with delight “ See, I told you the tooth fairy is real!”
Mom I admire
My mom, Dorothy. I admire her positive attitude, and the way she always persevered through every up and downs life has thrown at her. She is always there for anyone who needs her with open arms and a warm smile.
