With three daughters, the whole dating thing is never far from my mind. I know what my dating life was like, and I wouldn’t wish it on most people. But is there a “Christian way” to date? Sometimes I wonder if in our rush to protect our children, maybe we’ve swung too far.
Do I really know my daughters well enough to find their perfect spouse? And if I’m wrong in my choice, what does that say about our relationship? What if I think I’ve found the perfect person for them, and we find out I was wrong? Is it really my duty to choose their spouse? I understand the idea of wanting what’s best for them, and trying to protect them, but are we becoming too paternalistic in the process?
Is it time for the pendulum to swing back?
Some great thoughts in this post over at Relevant Magazine.
