It’s playoff time and the Yankees are now at the brink of elimination, down 3 games to 1 in the best of seven ALCS to that buzzsaw of a team known as the Houston Astros.
This being baseball, they’ve had their chances. But they haven’t come through. The biggest of those moments was Didi Gregorious’ almost-home-run to the short rightfield porch of Yankee Stadium. It would have put them up 3-2 in Game 3 against Astros’ dominant pitcher, Gerritt Cole.
That’s baseball. A game of opportunities and a game of inches.
