I wrote about 11 Ways Men Can Be Better Feminist Allies over at Role/Reboot! It was very refreshing, actually, to get to talk about how to help women as opposed to the other way around. Ah, someday I’ll get to be all outraged about the War on Women…
Noah Brand
In other bits of the GMP: About how the ‘life script’ familiar to generations from the game aptly named Life is actually bullshit. Sherman Helmsley is dead. The Dark Knight Rises is totally fascist as fuck, but still super-awesome. I should probably get around to seeing that movie? Probably.
Other places: Noah gets interviewed for an article about men’s body image.

I agree with most of those 11 items and despite having problems with some of them (I say #7 since most people are focusing on #11) I’ll go with it. But hey, I’m terribly NOT interested in being a feminist or ally of them.
Was browsing the MensRightsReddit and came across this study on male victims of female abusers.

I’m glad studies are being done finally.
Gotta admit, I was fairly horrified at the suggestion in the feminist ally article that it is purely the woman’s choice whether to give a child up for adoption or not. If a woman wishes to give up a child, but the child’s other parent is both capable and willing to raise the child, it seems to me it would be incredibly cruel and unfair (to both the parent and the child) to insist on adoption anyway.
In that case, only the one with the ability to give the child up for adoption should be paying child support, so would they be happy to have the other parent free from all responsibility, financial n others? Although wouldn’t adoption agencies just adopt it to the other parent?
Seriously. Once a woman gives birth, it’s not “her body” anymore.
What’s the difference between a feminist-ally and a feminist?
“Refreshing”? “For a change”? That’s all anyone ever (is allowed to) talks about!
But it’s not all I ever talk about. 😛 I talk about the other end.
