How To Shave a Beard [Video]

hey kids nice to see you again

uh so today i’m going to show you how to

shave a beard this isn’t exactly a beard

but you know it’s it’s long enough where

you got to do it a little bit different

than actually just

shaving with a razor so i thought i’d

walk you through that

uh but but first i have a dad joke for

you

so did you hear what sean connery said

to the lobster who wouldn’t share his

toys he told him he was shellfish

ah so anyway let’s get started

okay so uh if your hair

gets a little longer like this where

let’s just say

you know longer than an eighth of an

inch um if you try to use a razor for

this

it tugs uh and then you know you tug

and i i’ve done this before back in my

college days when i had

uh my my facial hair grew out and then

went to shave and you go to shave and

you know as you do it it tugs and then

it gets full

and then you’re rinsing it up tug full

and it just is

it’s pretty hard to do it that way so

you know

i would recommend you can pick up just a

cheap little trimmer like this usually

10 bucks at t.j.maxx or where

wherever um or

i have an electric trimmer

because i use this to actually cut my

hair as well um

you know and it’s just not a bad thing

to invest in a decent little trimmer

uh you know because as you get older

hair grows

uh you know where you don’t want it to

grow and it grow it doesn’t grow where

you know maybe you’d like it to grow so

anyway i’m just going to walk you

through this um and you know you can do

this

uh outside uh or

or what have you because it does kind of

make a mess you know i talked about the

cleaning up after yourself

you know if you’re shaving it’s the same

thing here this may you know your hair

is going to go

everywhere so uh if you have one that’s

battery powered you could easily do this

like out in the grass and just kind of

you know

go to town and get rid of it because

basically all we’re trying to do is just

you know uh just get rid of that length

of hair

and then at the end then you’ll go and

actually use a regular razor but you

want to get it down to a

manageable length uh you know basically

up against your skin and then you can

take the rest off with a razor so

uh so anyway i’m just going to show you

what that looks like um

so i have this this one has a dial on it

so i want to have it as close as

possible so i’m going to

move the dial all the way forward okay

and then i’m just going to

as you’re shaving you want to kind of

open your

mouth to kind of make it tighter okay

like that because if you just keep your

you know everything kind of uh

loose your skin loose but the shape the

razor doesn’t

glide across it as good so it’s kind of

the same thing here

you know you’re kind of stretching

things to make it

make it a flat surface to remove it okay

okay you can already kind of see that

it’s closer there see that’s the other

side

okay another thing you’re gonna have

when you don’t shave for a while

this happened even more so when i was

younger is

you’re gonna under uncover maybe you

know some ingrown hairs

there uh i don’t really get that so much

now

that my skin’s gotten tougher but that

was pretty common

okay i’m co-relating

anyway if you got something important to

do uh

where you want to look your best you

might want to do this the day before

so that you don’t have a bunch of red

bumps you know so

anyway

i’m doing it inside this time just

because

it was easiest to be able to show you

what i was doing but

see that so it’s all you know it’s a lot

closer now it’s a little less than an

eighth of an inch

it’ll be a lot easier to shave that now

so

okay so there you go that’s pretty much

it um

i’ve got a little bit of more i can

maybe do but you just want to do that

before you shave

it just makes shaving so so much easier

rather than tugging on it

and again you can pick one of these up

fairly really inexpensively so
