Generally I prefer my male country singers to NOT have frosted and straightened hair
Welcome to Grand Re-Opening Week and the first in a series of Magnificent Moms and Rad Dads. Today I’m introducing you to Cecily K, a pink-haired rocker chick from Philly who writes for Momcrunch at Babble in addition to her personal blog, Uppercase Woman. If you like her, follow her and let her know I sent you her way. I’m not getting anything out of it, but the street cred would be good.
[The questions may seem random, but they were all based on her blog]
You started blogging in 2004, which kind of makes you a pioneer chick (of sorts). Why did you start blogging when it wasn’t hip, cool and trendy?
I started blogging mostly to update my friends about my infertility treatments and to ease the incredible loneliness I felt while undergoing treatments. Blogging allowed me to join an online community of other women going through the same thing. I didn’t have any real life friends undergoing the craziness of infertility, so my online friends became my refuge.
What’s your favorite opera? (Not that I would actually know any)
Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers.
Since you’re a country music fan I’ll ask you something that’s been bugging me for years. What’s the deal with Billy Ray Cyrus?
I’m an old school and traditional country fan, so I don’t get Billy Ray Cyrus either. Generally I prefer my male country singers to NOT have frosted and straightened hair. I think Dolly Parton has one of the purest voices in the history of humanity, and I think most current country singers pretty much suck. Although I’m possibly coming around to Taylor Swift.
What’s it like being near the top of the parent blogging food chain? I ask because I can’t see much from all the way down here.
Why people think I know I’ll never understand. I’m totally D list here. I’m like the Kathy Griffin of mom bloggers.
What do you most like to write about?
Politics and spirtuality.
Where do you stand on orange Jello?
I love all artifical orange flavored things.
Where can a guy get a wicked good cheese steak in Philly?
I prefer Geno’s.
What’s the deal with long memes?
Dude, I don’t know. I haven’t done a meme in years.
What’s next for you as a blogger?
God willing, a book.
Anything else we should know?
I dunno. Probably. 🙂
Come back tomorrow for the debut of Daddio’s Diner, cooking tips and recipes for the regular person courtesy of me–a dude who just lost 65 pounds. Better yet, subscribe and I’ll get you on the guest list. Next Tuesday is the first Rad Dad–Jason Avant from DadCentric

Love Cecily K…even more now!
Glad I could help you out.
Nice to “meet” you Cecily! I’ve never seen your blog, but will definitely check it out now. I totally agree with you that Geno’s makes the best cheesesteak. Actually, I live near DC and drove the 2.5 just for a Geno’s steak when I was pregnant and craving it.
I too am a Dolly fan, but I’ve noticed less and less of the 20-40 yr old generation listens to her. It’s a damn shame.
Thanks for letting us get to know a bit about you.
@TheMuse I told you she was kinda rad…
