But it’s also been steadily falling off of late, and the recently released Season Six — while generally receiving decent marks from critics — is getting panned on Twitter. The latest iteration dropped on the streaming giant last week, with a new set of characters joining the mainstays. The additions include Badison (played by Amanda Fuller) and sisters Carol and Barbara (Henny Russell and Mackenzie Phillips, respectively), though none of them are considered game-changers. Vulture writes: “Orange Is the New Black remains a worthwhile series…. But the show’s commitment to telling all of its stories has become wildly overgrown, like a tree desperately in need of pruning.” To that point, the first four seasons of the show scored in the mid- to high-90 percent range with critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Season Five took a precipitous drop to 73 percent fresh, while this run is up slightly, to 83 percent (with an 80 percent audience score), viewers who have taken to Twitter have had just about enough. Over the past three days, “OITNB” has just a 40 percent positive score, with words driving the Vibe like “boring,” “stopped,” and “annoying.” Their opinions are best summed up by a recent Washington Post piece titled, “The new season of ‘Orange Is the New Black’ proves it’s time for the show to end.” –Alex Shultz
