The Showtime original, which features Cohen assuming the roles of an ever-increasing number of oddball characters, has managed to book huge guests, including former Vice-President Dick Cheney, former Trump campaign chairman Corey Lewandowski, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), disgraced Alabama politician Roy Moore, and controversial former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio. Just like his previous performances as Borat and Bruno, Cohen excels at persuading people to engage with his strange antics. Cohen poses as an Israeli anti-terrorism expert in one scene and gets Cheney to sign his “waterboard.” That’s nothing compared with to the show’s most notable moment to date: George State Representative Jason Spencer, a Republican, yelling racial epithets and exhibiting other bizarre behavior on camera during a “training session” about warding off terrorists. Spencer ended up resigning his seat a few days after the episode aired. Over the past 30 days, #WhoIsAmerica has a 52 percent positive score on Social. However, the vast majority of the negative sentiment associated with the show isn’t a reflection of what people think of it — instead, it’s a reaction to how awful many of Cohen’s interviewees have been. –Alex Shultz
