My self-affair has always been
on-again, off-again;
one day the best thing
in each other’s worlds;
the next we can hardly stand each other.
Like any romance,
the initial infatuation,
all projections of perfection
and wishful thinkings,
blinded us delightfully,
but was destined for disappointment.
But I think I finally get it;
I’m in a pre-arranged marriage
that I can never escape.
Perhaps this is when
real love can really grow.
