1. In your experience, what kind of mindset should one have to be a successful entrepreneur?
Absolutely. It’s challenging to come up with just one ingredient. But I would say that when dealing with any problems, it’s important to get to the root of the issue! Like a tree, most people stare at the branches, wherein the best place to look is within the roots! So, it’s important to teach others what I call success roots, or success hacks, so you can find out how it applies to you. And then act despite any fears that may come up, so you may conquer those fears!
2. Does it take a different mindset to run an online business versus a physical brick-and-mortar business? If so, what is the difference?
One hundred percent! When I had a traditional business, I was constantly consumed with my overhead expenses, which was everything from my rent to covering employees and the headaches and hassles that come along with it. With online, you get to work from home. No huge office to deal with. And you can outsource most of the work to freelancers for dirt cheap. So, you only pay based on the work you need done. And with online, you can sell a lot more products and create exposure to people who would have never walked across your storefront! So, all this makes your profit margins higher, with less effort, and more customer satisfaction of your clients!
3. Where do you see Internet entrepreneurship in the next 10 years?
What’s interesting is the internet is only 20 years in its making and unlike every other model, such as real estate and stocks, it just continues to go up and up. Yet only 22% of traditional businesses market online. This leaves a huge market that is still left while more and more consumers have switched from driving to the store for their items to buying most of their purchases and having the convenience of having it delivered to their homes.
So, we anticipate it will become a trillion-dollar industry as we continue to transition into spending more time online! We’re already spending an average of 5 hours a day on social media. Now imagine if you had a product or service to market to someone while they are on those social media platforms. It is just the beginning and it’s only going to grow!
4. In another article, you stated that you experienced your first “hiring and firing slip in the same week from a major telecom company” after you graduated. I’m curious, what exactly was that slip? And did that have an impact on how you viewed working for others?
I had gotten my degree because all my life my parents instilled in me that as long as you have a good education, you can live the “American Dream”. So, I graduated, got hired by a major telecom company and thought I had finally made it. And then the market crashed a week later, and they let me go.
I was actually unpacking my cubicle when they called me, and I went back to packing my cubicle again. While I was disappointed, this became a blessing in disguise as it gave me an opportunity to see what else was out there.
I then read a book one of my cousins, who had his own business, had recommended to me called, Rich Dad Poor Dad. Seeing his success, I decided to buy it and read it in one sitting! This book taught me that the “American Dream” is very rarely created by working for others.
Those who build true wealth are those who, one, build their own business, and two, invest their money and have their money make money, so they can free up their time. That set the path of my entrepreneurial career from network marketing to investments to online marketing, I would not work for someone else again unless I was a partner!
5. You stated in an article where you were talking about Online Entrepreneur Academy that you had studied over 200 business models. Why did the online space stick out to you the most?
I had studied everything from traditional businesses to franchises. The online space was the only model that gives you everything. Which means the ability to not only make a great income, but also be able to leverage your time and scale your business, all from any remote location. I went from traveling 42 out of 52 weeks of the year, gaining weight, being stressed out, and never seeing my family, to waking up at home, spending 12 hours a day with my wife, being there for her at home, and planning my business around my life, not the other way around. And the best part is we made 20 times the amount of income online than I made at my six-figure annual job and with less effort and stress! That is the power of the online model! You not only grow your business, but you do it without losing valuable family time!
6. What sort of individual can benefit from the Online Entrepreneur Academy?
The best people are those that are committed to their own success and wanting to pave their own path towards success vs. allowing the job market to dictate to them how much they can make. It’s also for those that like to grow and work with others in a community that is positive, and action-oriented to have the transformations they need in order to reach their goals!
We have a community with a very diverse background. From stay-at-home moms and students to professionals and business owners as well as retirees. I think the one common element for the outcome is the main vision of the company. To teach them financial certainty. Our definition of financial certainty is a skillset that no matter what happens, if they were to lose all their money tomorrow, they can get back up and provide for their family because they know how to create money on demand!
7. What are a few of the things that set your online entrepreneur course apart from the others?
After showing thousands how to transition from their jobs to making money online, we have built the first of its kind one-year curriculum with live virtual courses. These are courses that are given by the experts, not theorists, who have produced over seven figures online for that niche. And the one-year curriculum is done step by step so they’re only getting the very next thing they need to achieve success without feeling overwhelmed. And since there are lots of different ways to make money online, every member is given an enrollment counselor that builds out a customized curriculum just for them based on their personalities, strengths, and what type of lifestyle they’re wanting to create. We start with the end in mind, so once they finish one of the success tiers, they’re able to get the results they had wanted to create!
8. In closing, what is some key advice you would like to give someone who has been thinking about becoming an entrepreneur but is unsure of themselves?
That’s easy! I studied over 3,000 books and listened to over 2,000 podcasts and have pulled together what I call the success hacks, or roots, to their success. The biggest thing that keeps us from getting what we want is fear. And the biggest hack for overcoming fear is to take action. There’s never a perfect circumstance or timing that’s going to give us all the variables that we’re looking for to start striving towards our dreams and goals. The key is to start, knowing that you’ll have uncertainty and that it’s completely normal. After all, this is a new skillset! That said, once you master this skillset, you know how to be financially certain. Which means, whenever you need to make income, you can go online, know how to market, and produce money on demand. This peace of mind knowing that you and your family are provided for no matter what happens makes it all worthwhile!
